The Best Pokemon To Defeat Entei, Suicune, And Raikou

October marks the rotation of the Legendary Beasts, which means it’s time to get some new teams set up for the next beast that has come to your area! Here’s a helpful guide to which Pokemon are super effective against which Beast.

Lets start with Suicune. Suicune is a fair bit tankier than the other two beasts so defeating it may require a few more players than you previously needed for the other ones. Don’t let that deter you from trying to take it down though. Suicune is still a powerful hitter that will be a great ally in gym battles and future legendary battles. (Looking at you Groudon.) Some good Pokemon for your team would be Zapdos and Raikou if you have been catching legendary Pokemon in other raids. If you haven’t managed to capture either of those other two legendaries yet, then you still have a few options. Exeggutor with Bullet Seed and Solar Beam is a great option due to it being decently tanky and having a fairly high attack for a non legendary. It also resists pretty much everything Suicune can throw at it minus hidden power. (Hidden Power can be any type.) Some other good options are Raichu, Ampharos, Electabuzz, Magneton and Lanturn. Raichu, Ampharos, and Electabuzz are all 3 some pretty heavy hitting electric types that should all be used with only Electric type moves for this battle. Magneton and Lanturn are a bit more defensive given that Magneton can resist Suicune’s Extrasensory attack and Lanturn will resist all of Suicune’s water moves and both can respond with Electric type moves of their own for super effective hits against Suicune. I’d advise against using any other grass types besides Exeggutor for this battle despite them being resistant to Suicune’s water attacks. If Suicune is packing Extrasensory then it will tear through any Grass Poison types on your team with ease due to Poison type Pokemon being weak to Psychic moves. If your game doesn’t initially load you in with any grass types, its probably safe to assume its because that Suicune has Extrasensory. If not, then feel free to go after it with Venusaur, Victreebel, and Vileplume. But maybe not Bellossom. Bellossom is pretty weak overall and will get taken down easily.

Entei is up next and is probably the easiest of the Beasts to take down. It sports the highest HP stat of the trio but the lowest defense. That doesn’t make it a pushover however. It’s attack stat is only a few points lower than Raikou’s and substantially higher than that of Suicune’s. That being said, Entei doesn’t have any weird attacks to surprise foes like Suicune does so you can pretty much lean on Rock types, Water types, and Ground types to take it out. Tyranitar with Bite and Stone Edge, Suicune with Hidden Power (water) and Hydro Pump, Kingdra with Water Gun and Hydro Pump, Golem with Rock Throw and Stone Edge, Omastar with Water Gun and Hydro Pump, and Rhydon with Mud Slap and Stone Edge are all great options for taking out Entei. It’s also worth noting that Omastar, and Kingdra have a double resistance to its fire type moves.

Last but definitely not least is Raikou. Raikou may have the lowest Hp stat of the trio but it certainly isn’t a pushover. Raikou boasts the highest attack stat of the three and has the 2nd highest defense. Putting those two in combination together creates a Raid Boss who will have no problem crushing any unprepared opponents. That being said, don’t let Raikou intimidate you too much. It can be defeated with a ready team. Rhydon with Mud Slap and Earthquake, Golem with Mud Slap and Earthquake, Donphan with Tackle and Earthquake Nidoking with Poison Jab and Earthquake, and Nidoqueen with Poison Jab and Earthquake are great options for this battle. They all boast a resistance to Electric moves and can hit the foe with some super effective hits with decent damage. You most likely aren’t going to want to use any of your other legendaries in this fight due to Electric’s effectiveness against flying types except for Mewtwo and Entei, but they wont be able to bring any super effective attacks.

Outside of that, I advise you to search on Facebook or other social media apps for your local community’s Pokemon Go groups and form up some teams to go raiding together. If you can’t find one, then start up one. I’d be willing to bet that other players are somewhere near you who would love to meet other players that want to have a chance at catching these legendary beasts. So get out there and make some friends, have some good times and GO be the very best together … like no one ever was.
